Healthy morning routine according to Ayurveda: Dinacharya

Rutina mañaneras saludables según Ayurveda: Dinacharya

We all try to live a healthy life by incorporating good habits into our lifestyle. Because who doesn't want to live without fear and without worrying about health problems? However, in today's world, it has become a challenge to pay the same attention to health and work.

Living a lifestyle based on Ayurveda by following Dinacharya, an Ayurvedic daily routine, is a simple solution to all health-related concerns and the key to promoting a harmonious balance between mind, body, and soul.

What is Dinacharya?

The word Dinacharya comes from two words: "dina", which means day, and "acharya", which means activity. According to Ayurveda, Dinacharya is a routine that promotes self-care through different daily activities.

According to the principles of holistic health, aligning ourselves with nature regulates our own biological clock and makes us more aware of ourselves. If you follow this routine regularly with intense care and dedication, your health will benefit in several ways.

The daily cycles of Dinacharya

Dinacharya consists of two daily cycles: the solar cycle and the lunar cycle. During these two cycles, there are four-hour periods of vata dosha, pitta dosha, and kapha dosha energies, also known as Ayurvedic body types.

These energies are also present in our bodies in different intensities and combinations. Therefore, you should avoid activities that aggravate the cycle of the three energies.

First cycle: from sunrise to sunset (6:00 am – 6:00 pm)

  • 6:00 am – 10:00 am – Kapha
  • 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Pitta
  • 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm – Vata

Second cycle: from sunset to sunrise (6:00 pm – 6:00 am)

  • 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm – Kapha
  • 10:00 pm – 2:00 am – Pitta
  • 2:00 am – 6:00 am – Vata

What morning routines can we all practice to live a healthier life

These are some of the main practices that Ayurveda promotes for a healthy lifestyle and body:

Waking up and getting up

According to Ayurveda, it is important to wake up before sunrise. The time between 4:30 and 5:00 am is considered an ideal time to wake up. This pre-dawn time is when vata dosha is dominant, and the energy present in the environment will make it easier for you to wake up.

In addition, it is that time of day when there is a certain peace and freshness necessary for the body and soul. Before getting out of bed, you should say a prayer, as it will induce positive energy in your mind and soul.

Rinsing your face with cold water

Rinse your face with cold water to be alert for the day. You should also perform ‘Jalneti’, an Ayurvedic technique that consists of cleaning your nasal passages, nasal passage, and mouth with the help of a container similar to a teapot.

Cleaning all the senses

To boost all the senses in the morning, the sensory organs must be thoroughly cleaned. Wash your eyes with rose water and your ears with sesame oil. Brush your teeth and clean your tongue to improve your taste buds and stimulate digestive responses.

Drinking warm water

Although most people consume caffeine in the morning, Ayurveda recommends drinking warm water. It improves peristalsis and also cleanses the kidney of any harmful toxins and free radicals.

Evacuation

Evacuation is one of the most important pillars of health according to Ayurveda. If it does not occur regularly, or is delayed, it slows down digestion and causes constipation. This in turn forms harmful toxins in the body that can lead to chronic diseases.

Massaging with oils

Massaging your body with vegetable oils daily will keep your body hydrated and prevent your tissues from drying out. This ensures that there is good blood circulation in your body for a calmer and healthier nervous system.

It is important to use cold-pressed oils for better results. To do this, you must pay attention to your dosha type to use the oil that best suits your skin type.

In our online store you can buy argan oil and rosehip oil (tridosha products). You can also turn to jojoba oil if you have vata dosha, for which castor oil is also very beneficial.

Exercising

Running, doing yoga, or training at the gym are completely valid ways to exercise your body and keep it moving to prevent it from oxidizing. Exercise will eliminate stagnation and fat from your body and strengthen your muscles.

Bathing

A good relaxing bath will remove excess oil from the surface of your skin and make you feel fresh and energized to tackle the day's tasks.

Meditating

Meditation will help you focus on your goals, maintaining the balance between your mind, body, and soul. It will also calm your nervous system and make you feel calm and stable.

Unwinding

After finishing the day's work, it is important to unwind and relax the body. Close your eyes, lie down, light some scented candles, and listen to soulful music. This will not only make you feel at peace, but also release all the stress and tension from your body.

Another effective way to relax after a hard day's work is to spend time with loved ones or devote yourself to a hobby that helps you focus your thoughts on what truly makes you happy.
