“Mud” hair dyes are a natural, organic alternative to chemical hair dyes. They are also known as “henna” or “mud coloring.” These products are made from a blend of plant powders, such as henna, indigo, amla, and cassia obovata, and are used to dye hair safely and naturally.
Mud hair dyes are especially popular among people looking to avoid chemical hair dyes, either for health reasons or to minimize their environmental impact. In addition to coloring the hair, mud dyes can also improve its health and appearance, as they contain nutrients and conditioning properties that can strengthen the hair and prevent breakage.
It is important to keep in mind that mud hair dyes do not work in the same way as chemical dyes and may require a longer application process and waiting time. The results may also be less consistent than with chemical dyes, since the color will depend on the hair’s natural structure and the plant blend used.
To achieve even results on dark hair, we always recommend coloring it in two steps. First, color the hair with henna (this first step will leave gray hairs a little orange). Once you have washed your hair, you can apply the second color (for example, indigo) to damp hair.
Is mud coloring only for dark hair?
No! You can achieve a blonde shade with henna if you follow the right process. Here are the basic steps for dyeing blonde hair with henna:
1) Mix 10% of our henna with 90% of our cassia obovata
2) Add chamomile tea to the mixture. Let it sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
3) Wash your hair and dry it thoroughly before coloring. Henna should always be applied to clean hair for the best results.
4) Apply the henna evenly throughout your hair, making sure to cover all the roots and sections. Once you have applied the henna and cassia mixture, wrap your hair in plastic wrap and leave it on for half an hour.
5) Finally, rinse out the henna with lukewarm water and apply a deep conditioner to help seal in the color and soften your hair. Et voilà!
